Encaustic Sculptural Forms

This workshop explores the sculptural possibilities of encaustic, focusing on how the medium can be built up to create three-dimensional forms. We’ll look at techniques for creating and finishing 3D structures such as bowls, vessels, decorative objects, and small sculptural works.

Over the three-hour session, I’ll explain and demonstrate key techniques before guiding you as you work on your own piece. We’ll experiment with encaustic applied to absorbent and structural surfaces including wood, papier-mâché, ceramics, and wire mesh, as well as building forms using materials such as paper-clay. This workshop is great for artists keen to explore encaustic beyond the flat surface. Please note, basic encaustic knowledge or completion of a Encaustic Basics workshop is a pre requisite for this session.

Basic materials are provided. Participants are welcome to bring along their own surfaces or materials to experiment with. If you’re unsure about suitability, feel free to reach out beforehand — I’m very happy to discuss ideas and possibilities.
